Global Head of Product Management and Strategy for Grid Integration Services Hitachi Energy

Mercedes Jul joined Hitachi Energy in 2018, taking responsibility for Strategy and Technology Transformation for GPG Power Consulting within the company’s grid integration business. In July 2020, she was appointed Head of Product Management & Strategy for GPG Service Solutions. Mercedes brings extensive energy industry experience from previous roles at independent power producers, including managing wind farms, and has led energy advisory teams at DNV GL and KPMG.

Through her broad experience in the energy sector, Mercedes focuses on combining knowledge of regulatory, economic, sustainability, digital, commercial and technical aspects to define an innovative and pioneering strategy and product portfolio aligned with customer needs and the transformation that the sector undergoing. Mercedes is based in Switzerland and is co-founder and a board member of the Spanish Women in Energy Association (AEMENER) which aims to ensure the equal representation of women in energy businesses by promoting science subjects and occupations to women, while also supporting their professional development. Mercedes is also a member of the CIGRE C5 working group on new electricity markets and local energy communities. She holds a bachelor of science degree in physics from Santiago de Compostela University, Spain, and a master of science degree in energy and sustainability from Vigo University, Spain.
